Weigh In Day with Sophie Fletcher from Integral Equine Nutrition

Sophie Fletcher from Integral Equine Nutrition will bring along her mobile weighbridge, which allows every horse to be accurately weighed.

Sophie, equine nutritionist will be coming to GEC with her mobile horse scales! A simple hop on the scales will give you an accurate weight of your horse, and Sophie will also advise you on whether your horse is at a good weight for their age, breed and workload, or could improve by gaining or losing weight. Time needed for the weigh in will be dictated by your horse, but most horses only need a few minutes to get comfortable. Short and sweet, but an important piece of information to have for feeding, medications and towing! Sophie will also be giving a short talk about how to monitor your horse's body condition.

Very low profile, stable and non slip, it is safe up to 2000kg (haven't yet come across a horse that would top that... but it's actually in case horses jump around and put extra force on fewer legs than they should).

Accuracy is +/- 0.1% (reads to 1kg) and it has been designed to capture live moving weights - so the horse does not need to stand perfectly still to get an accurate reading.

Reasons to have an accurate weight: * Monitor weight gain/loss to establish correct feed regime, * Monitor recovery from illness, competition & travel stress, * Establish accurate dosage for worming & other pharmaceuticals, * Monitor foal/youngstock growth, *Establish accurate weight for vehicle towing capacity (including weighing feed and gear that you may be carrying).
